Tree down
Last weekend, after a massive thunderstorm, we decided to head off to Walmart for some food. We had none left in the house, except eggs, and since Doug doesn't have a huge appreciation for a supper served with breakfast-type food, we thought we'd better get some.
So, we started down the driveway, and about 1/3 of the way down, we ran across this huge tree blocking our way. It doesn't look so big in the picture, but, let me tell you, when you're trapped on your property and when you finally decide to leave for necessities, anythign that totally blocks your path seems just huge. So, we looked at the tree, and thought about what to do, and looked at all our tools. We only had a hatchet and a small hacksaw. And a rope. Oh, and a lawn tractor, which we thought would be our greatest ally, but it turned out that our muscles were.
After hacksawing through some of the smaller limbs that were latched onto the fence (that you can't see in the picture), we then sort of chopped through the bit still holding on to the tree. Finally, about 45 minutes later, and in pouring rain, we looped the rope around the downed limb and hauled it to the side of the road.
We would have had more pictures, but both of our muscles were needed and Gwen is not yet savvy enough to use the camera.

Incredible blog. I admired your site and I will be
back once again to view it! I use much of my spare
time searching for blogs like yours.
It may look like it was hard work, but my vt vermont house cleaning blog was simple.
